The Musicological Society of Australia

Client: Musicological Society of Australia
Project: Website design and build

The Challenge
The Musicological Society of Australia (MSA) is a not-for-profit organisation that connects researchers, educators, and enthusiasts passionate about musicology. As an Australian-based global network, MSA needed a modernised website to act as a central hub for content and communication, promoting its mission and supporting its members.

Purpose & Goals
The website was designed in collaboration with MSA to position the organisation as a professional, well-organised body worthy of its annual membership fee. Together, we created a platform that enables members to connect, collaborate, and access specialised resources, while showcasing the society’s global influence. By balancing public and members-only content, the site highlights the value of membership and fosters a strong sense of community.

Design approach and build process
Our team worked closely with MSA to develop a clean, professional interface with intuitive navigation that helps connect people with shared interests. Built on WordPress, the platform features a full membership system, integrating public resources with secure, members-only content. Key technical elements include caching for static pages, dynamic functionality for the member directory, and live integration with a publishing partner, allowing members to view new works with authenticated access.

Three mobile views showing the homepage, logged-in members area, and searchable member database.

Outcome & Impact
The new MSA website is a powerful tool for connecting musicology professionals and enthusiasts, reinforcing the organisation’s reputation and value to its members. This project reflects our commitment to creating functional, user-centred designs that support client goals and build thriving communities.
