Client: Baarrooka Alpacas
Project: Website design and build
Overview
Baarrooka Alpacas is a prominent alpaca stud and fleece production farm in regional Victoria, Australia, known for its high-quality alpaca breeding program. With a herd of over 1,000 alpacas, Baarrooka has become a key resource for breeders and buyers within the global alpaca community.
Goals
The Baarrooka website was developed to position the farm as a go-to resource within the industry. Through carefully chosen photography and design elements, the site captures the natural beauty of the farm, inviting viewers to experience Baarrooka’s scenic location. With a strong white base, the design conveys a professional, scientific focus that reflects the breeders’ commitment to quality and precision. The site structure ensures accessibility across devices, enabling users—whether on desktops, in fields, or on the road with limited internet—to have a smooth browsing experience.
Design & Build Process
The design process focused on simplicity and usability. Typography was selected for clarity, complemented by a natural colour palette to support the farm’s branding. Key technical implementations included custom post types, allowing the client to manage and update animal listings independently. Images are lazy-loaded to improve load times, and caching is set up to reduce client-side requests, ensuring performance even with limited connectivity.

Conclusion
The Baarrooka Alpacas website establishes them as an industry leader, showcasing their expertise and passion for alpaca breeding. This project demonstrates my commitment to crafting functional, reliable design that empowers clients to reach their unique goals.
